We finally made it out for our one-night test run of taking Charlie with us in the camper. Major success! Not only did we have amazing weather, but Charlie (although pretty confused) did a great job and actually slept on the floor of the camper. We stayed at the Meadowlark RV Park in Newport. No beautiful views and there were more permanent mobile homes than RVs, but at $40 we figure we saved about $150 in hotel costs, easy. We got down there Thursday afternoon, headed to Newport Vineyards for some shopping (only 4 bottles, was feeling conservative), a glass of wine and cheese plate, and a lovely walk with Charlie through the vineyards. Had a quick drive and walk into the center of town, back to the camper for an early night of more wine drinking and an overdue re-watch of Bridget Jones' Diary. Today was gorgeous and the breeze was almost warm. Drove down Ocean Drive, saw the Newport mansions and then headed out to Little Compton and some great picture taking. Closed the day out with a visit to a farm stand, our first apple pie purchase of the season and were home in the afternoon in time for Mike to watch England beat Scotland in a World Cup qualifier. Stay tuned for the next trip where we we layer in one more dog and see how everyone does!
